I Can Do All Things In The Strength Of The Lord

Sunday, October 7, 2008

I can do HARD THINGS - but in the strength of the Lord I can do ALL THINGS.

This was the topic of one of the speakers of the 178 Semi-Annual General Conference today.

Deep down inside of all of us we have the knowledge of where to get the strength and hope for all we do and want to accomplish.

We have all the help we need in the sciptures. There we can find out how we can find joy in everything we do and in everything that happens in our lives.

Even sad things, losses, trials and afflictions can turn into joyful memories when we learn to see the hands of the Lord in every event. We know we will come out of it with more knowledge, just a little bit wiser every time.

The real receipe is to discover the true meaning and lesson learned. We need to find joy in the journey of life, NOW!

Whatever we go through can become pleasant memories for the future. Even losses; when we lose a loved one we of course are sad but we still know where they are and that they are in a better place now. We also know that we will meet again! This to me is a fundamental part of my beliefes.

In the grieve of the loss there is the joy of meeting again - being together forever after this life!

It is so important to create pleasant memories for the times to come. These are the memories we attain strength from.

"It is so easy to take others for granted until they are gone. The most tears shed on graves are for words unsaid and deeds undone!" (quotoe: Pres. Monson).

We ought to learn to live every moment at it's fullest. Take in every moment of life and malasting memories.

Give someone a hug, a nice word, a warm smile because we are all in need of that. We need each other.

Don'tmiss out on live's opportunities. Be aware of what we have in the presence and we will experience Heaven on Earth.

I have tried all my live to enjoy the moment and to live in the presence to be able to enjoy every moment in my life.

My life has been a hollocoaster for the most part of my life but looking back I have learned so much. There is nothing I would have wanted not to happen. It all was neccessary to become who I am today.

I have a testimony of the gospel and I know that our Heavenly Father lives and that our LordJesus Christ lives. I know that Heavenly Father would have never let me join the wrong church. From my earliest childhood on I have been thought by my angelic mother that I have a Heavenly Father who is always there for me.

My mother had to work hard for us to servive after World War II. She often had night shifts. She tought me that I am not alone, that I can talk to my Heavenly Father any time I feel alone. And so I did. Every night I talked to HIM and felt secure and comfort.

This continued over the years. I developed a close relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Lord Jesus Christ. My heart is full of love for Them. And I am looking forward to live with Heavenly Father again in His Kingdom together with my family and enjoy that everlasting life ahead of us.

This may sound fantastic to some of you. But it really isn't. We know where we came from, we know why we are here and we know where we are going. That is very realisticto me.

For those of you, who do not know much about these things I will post more of it in detail in future posts.

Until then be cheerful and enjoy every day in gratefulness to the Lord who gave you life,

Elke Houghton
